⭐Luma Theme from Super Mario Galaxy

This is my take on the Luma theme from Super Mario Galaxy composed by Mahito Yokota . Lumas are star-like creatures that first appear in Super Mario Galaxy. Unlike most Stars, they have a raindrop-like shape and come in many colours, with the most common one being yellow. They help Mario on his quest.

I kind of improvised my own version.

⭐Chocobo Theme from Final Fantasy

This is my take on the Chocobo Theme, which is the leitmotif of the series’s mascot Chocobo, a usually yellow bird often usable as a steed.

Each game uses a different mix of the central melody arranged in a particular style of music. It was composed by Nobuo Uematsu for Final Fantasy II, the game where chocobos debuted.

There is not a single version of the theme, so I just did my own version. Hope you enjoy!

Windfall Island from Zelda: The Wind Waker

I play the recorder in this arrangement by Kyle Throw of Windfall Island, which is a music theme originally composed by Koji Kondo for Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. Appropriately, it is heard while exploring the island of the same name. It has a mix of many recognizable themes from the franchise such as Lon-Lon Ranch and Kakariko Village.

Phantom Forest (new collab video)

I play the Viol and Kalimba on Phantom Forest (Final Fantasy VI), which was arranged by my good friend Truman Wilson for The Collab Playground. The video will be out on YouTube (below) this Sunday.

FF VI Phantom Forest

The (Bass) Viol is a renaissance instrument I picked up during the pandemic; it’s like a 6 or 7 string cello, with gut frets.

The Kalimba is an African instrument which consists or a wooden box and tins and it sounds a bit like a music box.

Strange Flower from Corpse Factory

I have finished the arrangement for Strange Flower from Corpse Factory by Alex Shea; it’s not an easy piece to play and I’m still practicing it most days; I will record the video when I feel I have mastered the piece well enough — I expect the video to come out during the month of September.

⭐Dracula’s Castle (new Collab Playground video)

My new arrangement, Dracula’s Castle from Castlevania – Symphony of the Night, that I recorded with The Collab Playground is out!

This is a music theme originally composed by Michiru Yamane. Appropriately, it is heard in the first section of Dracula’s Castle, the Entrance. It came to be considered to be Alucard’s theme.

⭐Lenna’s Theme from Final Fantasy V

Score coming this week.

Final Fantasy V is probably my favourite Final Fantasy game, alongside FFVI and FFVII. The original SNES track has an amazingly haunting bass line. I was determined to reproduce this bass line on the classical guitar so I decided to pull a little magic trick out of my hat.

I move the capo as I play, gradually altering the key – hopefully surprising you with an unexpected low bass effect, like in the original! Let me know in the comments if that worked for you!
